Are You Ready to Dive In to Second Life?

Or maybe you are only ready to get your feet wet?

Either way, you will not be alone there, as SLA is jumping right in!

The member's enthusiasm for Second Life was plainly obvious during a recent post-conference "unconference" SLA event held in Second Life last month featuring SLA CEO Janice Lachance and President Gloria Zamora. Janice and Gloria visited the SLA land in Second Life to talk about the SLA alignment project and answer questions. There were over 30 people (represented by their avatars) in attendance, and this session has sparked a lot of interest from people wanting to know how to get started in this virtual world.

Click U is offering three new sessions on Second Life later this year, but if you don't want to wait, check out our recorded webinar, "Introduction to Second Life." For more informatoin, go to the Replays page on the Click U site. Make sure you are logged in to the SLA site, and click on the Internet Practices and Web Performance Improvement category and start learning about virtual worlds and how to get started in Second Life.

Dates: 13-31 July 2009

This course identifies techniques for establishing the relationship between the management of knowledge services and organizational leadership. The critical result is the development and on-going implementation of an enterprise-wide knowledge culture. With knowledge services as a recognized operational function, knowledge development and knowledge sharing combine into a single organizational attribute supporting the successful achievement of the organizational mission. Based on Guy St. Clair's books Entrepreneurial librarianship: the key to effective information services management, by Guy St. Clair (London and New York: Bowker-Saur, 1996) and Power and influence: enhancing information services within the organization, (London and New Brunswick, NJ: Bowker-Saur, 1994). Topics covered include:
• definitions of leadership as used in organizational management
• the entrepreneurial/intrapreneurial perspective in knowledge management/knowledge services delivery
• shifting paradigms with respect to knowledge transfer in the larger organization
• the value of power and influence in the success of knowledge services delivery
• defined elements of the knowledge culture

The New execuBook: "The Moneymakers: How Extraordinary Managers Win in a World Turned Upside Down" by Anne-Marie Fink

What could an investor teach you about your business that you don't already know?

Professional investors possess insights about business that others lack. They see the big picture, have extraordinary access to executives and information, and are unbiased. They can spot significant trends early and identify strategic strengths and flaws with great clarity.

In this execuBook, author Anne-Marie Fink argues that this wisdom, although developed for making investment decisions, has much broader use for managing businesses. She offers 11 management rules from an investing vantage point that are significantly different from the so-called best practices of management strategy and leadership.

This summary provides a contrarian view of how to achieve business success. It will be of interest to leaders and managers who are looking for new ways to build the value of their companies.

If you want to read the full summary please log into your execuBooks account at http://www.aheadspace.com/login.cfm. Don't have an account? Visit Click U to get one.
