Facebook...beware the scams and viruses

I am planning on writing a longer, more positive, post about Facebook, but wanted to mention these articles on Facebook sooner rather than later.

Apparently, Facebook is getting popular with criminals who pretend to be who they aren't.  How could you possibly be fooled?  This Computerworld article explains it all.  A bit hard to follow, but it makes sense in the end.  So, now we know.

Money scams have made their way to Facebook from email.  This cnet article is a good reminder to verify who you are talking to before wiring those funds.

And don't forget about viruses.  I received an email alert that I had a message in my Facebook inbox from a friend.  Well, there was no message there and I realized what was up before I clicked the link in the email.  I was Koobfaced.

If only scammers could use their powers for good rather than evil, we'd be a lot better off.
