Each year the SLA Leadership Department needs you to report the elected and appointed leaders of your unit. These are reported by the incoming chapter president or division chair by completing the Unit Officer Form. These should be submitted as soon as possible when your elections are complete and your committee chairs are appointed but no later than 1 February.
Beginning 1 January, the Leadership Department will replace all 2011 leaders with 2012 leaders in our database. The database will allow headquarters to establish communications links to your various leaders and populate private discussion lists or wikis for officers. Then the respective officers can share and communicate with their peers. Check out the varied leadership discussion lists.
Key officers whom someone from the public (prospective member, sponsor, advertiser, etc.) may need to contact will be listed for each of the units. Not all officers are listed in the drop-down information for our chapters, divisions, and sections. For a complete listing of all of your leaders, we direct to your individual Web site. The database also is not a complete listing of all leadership roles you may have in your SLA career.
Remember when completing these forms that we have listed major functions, not the specific officer title within your unit. For instance, there are approximately 29 different titles used for the person responsible for your Web site; list on the form as Webmaster. If you have any questions, please contact Chief Administrative Officer Linda Broussard or Leadership Associate.
Who will be placed onto the Leadership Discussion List? This list is a private list for the top leaders of SLA. As soon as the bulk of the unit officer forms are received, the Leadership Department will subscribe the SLA Board and association level committee chairs, division chairs and chairs-elect (immediate past chairs are optional and may wish to unsubscribe), chapter presidents and presidents-elect (immediate past presidents are optional and may wish to unsubscribe) and caucus conveners. This means that you may wish to forward announcements to your respective officers/committee chairs if they
are relevant.
