Sunshine Week, a national initiative to open a dialogue about the importance of open government and freedom of information, takes place 15-21 March 2009. Participants include print, broadcast and online news media, civic groups, libraries, non-profits, schools and others interested in the public's right to know.
On Friday, 20 March from 1-2:30 p.m. eastern, OpenTheGovernment.org and other organizations (including SLA) will present the 4th Annual Sunshine Week National Dialogue. The event, held at the Center for American Progress and available via webcast, presents a great opportunity for the public to be involved in the crafting of the new Administration's open government directive. The webcast will be shown at host sites across the country and will be followed by discussions tailored to center on local government openness issues. Audience members will have several opportunities to ask questions of the panelists. More information.
