The Conference Board of Canada has been accused of plagiarizing from a U.S. lobby group's documents, which label Canadians as the file-swapping capital of the world.
Michael Geist, a Canada Research Chair at the University of Ottawa, said the new study on the digital economy from the Conference Board is a "deceptive, plagiarized report" that copied passages from the International Intellectual Property Alliance, including one instance without any attribution. The alliance is the primary U.S. copyright lobby group representing the movie, music and software industries.

UPDATE: The Conference Board of Canada recalled three reports and issued a statement that an internal review determined that these reports did not follow their high quality research standards.
