The Associated Press Board of Directors has directed the Associated Press (AP) to create a news registry that will tag and track all AP content online to assure compliance with terms of use. Developing a format that will put a digital permissions framework on each news story, AP is attempting to stop misappropriation of its articles by search engines and Web sites that do not pay for the service.
