Who has access? Is it just the unit membership chairs? That's the question that was recently asked by a seasoned leader.
The Unit Leader Access System (ULAS) is available to all officers reported to the association on the unit officer form. It will give those officers access to the reports for their unit only. It pulls directly from our database. It is a real-time tool that you can use to get your roster of both current and former members.
There are other reports, but if you don’t enter the correct date range according to our business rules and process you will receive an error. Here’s why:
SLA membership has a few stages:
Active: These are current paid members.
Inactive (a grace period to renew, but membership is NOT active): These are expired members within the last 90 days. This status allows expired members limited access to www.sla.org to access their account and pay it without completing a new application.
Dropped: These are members whose membership has expired more than 90 days ago. This is what ULAS would pick up in the expired report, but you would need to enter a date range of more than 90 days ago. Otherwise it will not find anyone and you’ll get an error message.
The membership chairs have a wiki where reports are generated and posted for them. ULAS is a quick tool to download a roster or a former member list. Contact your membership chair for other reports that can be obtained from the membership chairs wiki. Units that don’t have a membership chair can request that the president or chair have access to the wiki instead.
How can I access ULAS? Go to: http://www.sla.org/governance/
1. Select Chapter, Division, or Caucus Leadership (you may need to log in)
2. Under “TOOLS” select “Unit Leader Access System”
3. Log in with your SLA website login (again)
4. On the left side menu select “Membership Reports”
5. In the “Membership Reports” window, select your unit from the drop down menu
6. Click “Active members” to view the list on your screen or “Download” to view and save a copy to your own computer. (Tip: You can chose to SAVE the file and open with Excel).
If you need assistance with the wiki or reports, please contact membership director Paula Diaz!
The Membership Chair's Wiki: Only Membership Chairs have access to the Membership Chairs Wiki (this is where official membership reports are housed).
On the Membership Chairs Wiki, membership chairs have access to the following on a monthly basis:
1. Members by Country Count
2. Members by Type Count
3. Members by Unit Count
4. Chapter Statistics (Count of all members broken down by type)
5. Division Statistics (Count of all members broken down by Division)
6. Caucus Statistics (Count of all members broken down by Caucus)
7. New member by month
8. Lapsed members by month
Most common reports are available through the Unit Leader Access System (ULAS). The following specialized reports are available to unit leaders upon request; elections report, leadership history; directory address. We hope that these reports will be used as tools for building our SLA membership.
