SLA's Cabinet Chairs, led by Ruth Wolfish and Ann Sweeney, are designing critical leadership programming for the 2010 Leadership Summit 27-30 January 2010. President-Elect Anne Caputo has selected as her theme for 2010 "Creating the Future". Our alignment project is concluding this year and now it is time for action. Remember to alert candidates, especially for chair-elect and president-elect, that they should plan to be in St. Louis, Missouri next January. Registration is now open.
Keynote speaker Jim Kane will share how special librarians and information specialists must continually demonstrate their value and build stronger and more loyal relationships with colleagues within and outside their organizations. In a presentation that is both highly informative, as well as entertaining, Jim Kane will share the secrets to creating and maintaining true loyalty in any professional relationship. Supported by more than 40 years of Harvard University research, Kane will make the case that loyalty is complex human emotion and a fundamental part of our human nature. He will demonstrate that, contrary to our cynical view of the world, human beings have a fundamental need to be loyal and actively seek out the specific clues from others that tell them when they can and should be. When an organization, as well as an individual, is able to understand and demonstrate those loyalty-building behaviors, they can develop relationships that will last a lifetime and result in unwavering and unlimited support.
Informative, interactive and practical programming will prepare you for your leadership role. Amy Affelt, Membership Chair, Business & Finance Division has already registered. Won't you join Amy and be among the first to register for the most important leadership programming of the year.
